Apster - Goldcoast
Artist: Apster
Track: Goldcoast
Label: Wall
Apster coming in hot on Afrojack's Wall Recordings with a feel good bouncer of a house track. Interesting progressions in the song changing from the sunny day, sunglasses track to a progressive tweaker, and then back again. All the biggies have been playing this one for a while but it's the drop at the 2 minute mark that makes the big room shake on the low end. This is one of those tracks that really makes you miss summer.

Futuristic Polar Bears - Offshore (Daniel Ortega & Mike Moorish Remix)
Artist: Futuristic Polar Bears
Track: Offshore (Daniel Ortega & Mike Moorish Remix)
Label: Wormland Black
Just mother eff'ing house music. This is the song you should be playing on your Ipod as you walk out of work today, refreshed by the knowledge that the work week is over and ready to conquer your undying thirst of alcohol and strobe lights. Meet you pals at the bar and get ready to continue the night until your legs can't carry you. This is a feel good track. This is a Friday track. This is a progressive house track.
Welcome to the weekend.

Right about the 1:45 minute mark I literally saod "woah" outloud. Theennnn it kicks back in around 3:45. This track isnt for everyone, but for those who do dig it, wow. I can't wait for the remixes on this one. Forthcoming on this Indonesian newcomer and future breakout star's album, this should be a good one to look out for. Bonus remix of Prutataaa below.

PNAU - Unite Us (Tommy Trash Remix) + Steve Forte Rio ft. Lindsey Ray - Slumber (Tommy Trash Remix) + Steve Aoki ft. Wynter Gordon - Ladi Dadi (Tommy Trash Remix) + Tommy Trash - Downright
Artist: PNAU
Track: Unite Us (Tommy Trash Remix)
Label: Ministry of Sound Australia
Australian born and London based Tommy Trash has been having quite the year. If not demonstrated by the sheer awesomeness of the tracks posted here, then by the fact that all of them are less than a year old. His remix and production work is superb. "Slumber" for example was taken from a classic vocal trance toe tapper straight into a high energy peak time floor filler. I've posted about him before, especially what he did with John Dahlback's "One Last Ride" . The guy is becoming absolutely massive and is definitely one to keep your ears open for in 2012.

Zedd - Slam The Door + Winnebago Man
Artist: Zedd
Track: Slam The Door
Label: OWSLA
Just a fun, fun house song as a follow up to his huge hit "Shave It". First of all it's a complete banger. Second of all it samples one of the greatest viral video clips of all time "Winnebago Man" which I have posted below. The vocal sample really turns it into a complete ass shaker. Not much more I can say about this, except that you may love or hate the original Winnebago Man video, but this song is great.

Mikael Weermets ft. Max C & Audible - Let It Go (Jerry Rekonius Remix)
Artist: Mikael Weermets ft. Max C & Audible
Track: Let It Go (Jerry Rekonius Remix)
Label: Kingdom Kome Kuts
Ohhh my. Big, big track to start the week off right. Walls of sound here with a touch of a Laidback Luke vibe. Swedish producer Jerry Rekonious putting his touch on the track, and I'll tell you, if you're a young Swede you can literally do no wrong in the EDM world right now. A little toe tapping vocal stomper to get your Monday set.

Miike Snow - Devil's Work (Alex Metric Remix)
Artist: Miike Snow
Track: Devil's Work (Alex Metric Remix)
Label: Columbia
Alex Metric is back, and in a big way. This remix of Sweden's Miike Snow's newest single is quite the toe tapper. All the elements seem to be in the right place; the revving guitar riff, the catchy piano loop, the haunting vocals. This one may be a little bit of a cross over, involving a bit of breakbeat/big beat and house music, it reminds me a little of old Chemical Brothers. Metric has been known to smash up genres quite a bit and this track is no exception. Feel good EDM to bring you into Saturday. Welcome to the weekend.

Filo & Peri - SubZero + Filo & Peri - StabSound
Artist: Filo & Peri
Track: SubZero
Label: FE
Two really strong trace tracks here, one more serious than the other. The main sample in this sounds a bit like it was taken from "The Theme" but overall, a really fun track. Intro is a little bit cheese epic, but throw in the retro video game sample and a little bit of an old Mortal Kombat Theme (hence the title?) sound and you're done. 9 out of 10 ain't bad.
StabSound is your typical Filo & Peri sound, just good, old, fun, interesting trance music.
Artist: Filo & Peri
Track: StabSound
Label: High Contrast

Matt Darey ft. Leah - Hold Your Breath (KhoMha Remix) + Matt Darey ft. Leah - Hold Your Breath (David Forbes Remix) + Original + Matt Darey pres. Urban Astronauts - See The Sun + Matt Darey - Beautiful Day + Matt Darey - Beautiful
Artist: Matt Darey ft. Leah
Track: Hold Your Breath (KhoMha Remix)
Label: S107 Recordings
I'm very surprised by this tune. Not so much the remixes, which give you two different tastes of EDM, but of the original. Matt Darey has been around forrrrevvverrr and has put out some amazing, ethereal tracks in the past (as well as some real trance stormers (see "Beautiful" below), and what surprises me even more is that he is about to release his debut artist album after being 20 years in the game. Usually artists evolve over time. Tiesto, Markus Schossow, Cosmic Gate, ect; but Darey has stayed true to his sound and inspiration.

M83 - Midnight City (Eric Prydz Remix) + Original
Artist: M83
Track: Midnight City (Eric Prydz Remix)
Label: Naive/bootleg
I'm not sure how I really feel about this remix, being that I think the original track is amazing. It's not often that there is a Prydz remix or production that just completely bewilders me and leaves me there scratchng my head, but this is one of them. I'm not really sure if its lazy or genius, if I hate it because it just sounds like a sped up version of the original or it takes the original to a whole new level with additional production value. As of right now I'm 50/50 about it, but as I listen to it 100 more times I'll end up loving it. God damn you Prydz you magnificent bastard you.

Markus Schulz presents Dakota - Cape Town (Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano Remix)
Artist: Markus Schulz presents Dakota
Track: Cape Town (Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano Remix)
Label: Coldharbour
Well fuck me running. Taking a great track and making it even better eh? You have my favorite producer/DJ who in my my overtook both Tiesto and Above & Beyond. Paired with the production and remixing ability of Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano. What do you expect from this track? Better clear everything away from where you're sitting because around 2:30 this becomes a major ass shaker. Extended mix sure to be a crowd pleaser. Welcome to the weekend.

Erick Morillo ft. Audio Bullys - Break Down The Doors (Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike Deep Down Remix) + Jake Shanahan & Sebastien Lintz - Passion (Hardwell Edit)
Artist: Erick Morillo ft. Audio Bullys
Track: Break Down The Doors (Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike Deep Down Remix)
Label: Defected
Two kinda oldies but goodies and two very different house music vibes. First you have Morillo bringing in the vocal style of Audio Bullys on a straight house track that gets Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike treatment. You could take out the entire first 1:30 and I wouldn't miss it. And second is just a progressive jam/festival anthem of a track getting the Hardwell treatment. Two very different vibes and very different club nights all together.

Dirty South and Thomas Gold feat. Kate Elsworth - Eyes Wide Open (Live on Radio 1) by Dirty South
Artist: Dirty South & Thomas Gold ft. Kate Elsworth
Track: Eyes Wide Open
Label: Phazing
So you got Dirty South collaborating with Thomas Gold, check. Kate Elsworth on the vocals, check. Friday night pregame anthem, check. Just wait for the full version and remixes to drop. I can picture a thousand college kids all wearing neon sunglasses jumping in the air while Avicii plays this now.....adorable.

Peking DuK, Stef K - Welcome (Dem Slackers Remix)
Artist: Peking DuK, Stef K
Track:Welcome (Dem Slackers Remix)
Label: Vicious Bitches
Just a filthy, filthy beats wake up call. Like a doo doo alarm clock, straight skeez in the ear canals. Rolling electro bass lines and building synths, but right around the 3 minutes mark it just gets capital D and three Y's Dirtyyy, dropping some face melting at 3:30. The first 3 and a half minutes is a nice build up but that 30 seconds between 3:30 and 4 minutes is where it's at. This is the song you remember from the night before, when you stayed out wayyy to late on a weeknight.

Nash & Pepper presents Ostrega - First Scream (We aRe remix) + Nash & Pepper presents Ostrega - First Scream (Dennis Sheperd Remix)
Artist: Nash & Pepper presents Ostrega
Track: First Scream (We aRe remix)
Label: Coldharbour
No idea who Nash & Pepper are but it seems that the newcomers have made an impressions on both Markus Schulz (Coldharbour) and Tiesto's production partner Dennis Waakop Reijers (We aRe) to drop this massive remix. The Dennis Shepard remix (below) is getting a lot of play in most trance circles, but I prefer the above remix much more for its glitch editing and highlighting of the vocals. Solid vocal banger.

Spencer & Hill & Nadia Ali - Believe It (Cazzette's Androids Sound Hot Remxi)
Artist: Spencer & Hill & Nadia Ali
Track: Believe It (Cazzette's Androids Sound Hot Remxi)
Label: Wall Recordings
This one is a couple month old which is surprising that I haven't posted it yet. So you have three "of the moment" house music titans here releasing a track on Afrojack's Wall Recordings. Nadia Ali, who is pretty much reigning voice over the dance music scene. Spencer and Hill, who if you're a reader know that make just absolutely dominating progressive house beats. And Cazzette, the duo is newcomers on the Swedish scene remixing all the biggies with their mixture of dubstep and prog. All the biggies are pounding this one directly in the middle of their sets, as for good reason, the energy is infectious. Welcome to the weekend.

Tristan Garner - Raven
Artist: Tristan Garner
Track: Raven
Label: Xtra Life Recordings
All I have to say about this track is: big, big, big sound. If you're a DJ and you literally want to blow out everyone's ears at the end of your set in the main room, slap this track on the tables. Holy Christ. I have yet to hear this on the big speakers but I'm sure I'm going to need ear plugs. Good lord, man. I think Tristan Garner's trying to kill people.

Breakfast pres. Keyworth - Median (Keyworth Remix) + Mat Zo & Arty - Mozart
Artist: Breakfast pres. Keyworth
Track: Median (Keyworth Remix)
Label: Ajunabeats
Two trance tracks that have been floating around by three, young, great producers. The first, the new track by Breakfast aka Casey Keyworth with a release off of Ajunabeats. I guess he's trying to break out of the Breakfast, Ferry Corsten protege mode (which isn't too bad of a title) and try to start out on his own. Whatever it is, the track is gorgeous and turns into a stomper.
The second is a collaboration between two of the biggest names in dance music right now, Mat Zo and Arty. An anagram of their two names, "Mozart" has been dominating dance floors for a few months with this kind of funky, teched out vibe that neither is known for.
Artist: Mat Zo & Arty
Track: Mozart

Joris Voorn vs Moby - After the After (Original Mix)
Artist: Joris Voorn vs Moby
Track: After the After (Original Mix)
Label: Rejected
Joris Voorn kills it with a straight up toe tapping, groove filled, techyish house wonderment. This is one of those head nodders that just makes you feel good listening to it, wishing you were cruising in an old ass convertible in some suburb somewhere in the sunshine. If you've got some big speakers turn em up, because the bass line on this remix really kicks it up around 2:50 with the new synth introduction aka toe tapping because straight spine groovin.

Skrillex & Wolfgang Gartner - The Devil's Den
Artist: Skrillex & Wolfgang Gartner
Track: The Devil's Den
Label: Big Beat
I don't know what it is about this song that makes me like it and makes it so catchy. While both Skrillex's obvious influence and Gartner's electro touch are on the track, it seems very segmented into the Gartner produced sections and the parts of the track that have the signtaure Skrillex touch. If I heard this come on at a club I would clearly question my own judgement in going and wonder exactly what night I might have wandered in to. I want to not like this song but for some reason I do. I can picture myself drivuing at high speeds, weaving in an out of traffic while listening to it. And even though I don't own a car nor drive, this would be at the top of my driving playlist.
