Ellie Goulding - Lights (Bassnectar Remix)
Artist: Ellie Goulding
Track: Lights (Bassnectar Remix)
Label: Interscope
To my own dismay I don't think I posted this one yet, which I must apologize for. It wasn't until I heard this on George Acosta's last radio show that I was reminded of the track and how I personally have this on my own Saturday Playlist. Perfect getting ready to go out drinkin music. Now go get yourself one.

Gemellini ft. Matthew Sartori - This Love (Maison & Dragen Remix)
Artist: Gemellini ft. Matthew Sartori
Track: This Love (Maison & Dragen Remix)
Label: Central Station
The brothers Sartori from Australia drop this little diddy, a guaranteed feel good crowd pleaser with excellent remix work by blog favorites Maison & Dragen. I listened to the original over and over and I have to say that M&D really added their energy to the track and made it that much better. I will echo a comment that one youtube user raised, that he gets frustrated by some of their drops being anti climatic, like the one around 2:30. I will agree but I will also say the boys more than make up for it by creating a full on dance skipping big room banger. Not a huge face melting production solely created to blow your ears out, this track is fun, energetic and is guaranteed to put a smile on almost everyone's face.

Hard Rock Sofa & DJ Squire ft. Max'C - Just Can't Stay Away
Artist: Hard Rock Sofa & DJ Squire ft. Max'C
Track: Just Can't Stay Away
Label: Spinnin
I know sometimes I don't post the most "underground" songs or the latest techno from Berlin consisting of the most avant garde distorted beeps, but this song is just fun as hell. The video is great. The melody is great. The vocals are great. The track is the just plain and simple fun. It's a little bit of a left turn into a radio friendly zone for Hard Rock Sofa but I'm really not complaining, there's not many songs that can make me bop like a teenage girl.

Moby - Extreme Ways (Moguai Remix)
Artist: Moby
Track: Extreme Ways (Moguai Remix)
Label: Little Idiot
There's remixes and redubs and revisitations and a whole slew of whatever you want to call some people biting off of other people's stuff or samples.....then there's what Moguai has done with this track. If you want to call this a reimagining I would be completely fine with it because not only does Moguai take the very best aspects of Moby's now classic track, he brings it to that next level and creates a whole new experience for the listener. Keeping his feet firmly planted in the familiar ground of the original Moguai continue to reach and create and a whole new masterpiece that perfectly fits his style and musical legacy. The breakbeat break coming in around 2:50 was a bit of a surpirse but it turned out to be a wonderfully beautiful foray into the drop that Moguai undoubtedly puts his stamp on. This one is sure to crank out huge in the big rooms, and I'm personally looking forward to hearing it.

Bluestone - Capetown + Bluestone - Namaste
Artist: Bluestone
Track: Capetown
Label: Ajunabeats
I know the last couple of posts have been trance heavy, but this song is just so beautiful I couldn't resist posting is. Isreal native Bluestone captures that sound that only other Isreali trance artists seem to grasp, and if you're familiar with other producer's (Astral Projection, Infected Musroom, Yahel, Maor Levi, Offer Nissim) music, you understand. Guy Gerber is Isreali and even he has that tinge of soul in his musical selections. Maybe it's the whole influence of their Goa roots from the past, who knows, but Bluestone's debut song "Namaste" should really give you a clue to the spiritual side that the music comes from.

Arty, Nadia Ali & BT - Must Be The Love
Artist: Arty, Nadia Ali & BT
Track: Must Be The Love
Label: Armada
It's starting to get a bit chilly here in NYC, and typically when a lot of things start to slow down. People don't go out as much, there's no more outdoor events and thus eliminating a great deal of venues to have an event. I also feel the style and releases of music change a bit, a bit more calm, a bit more somber; and that's exactly what this BT, Arty & Nadia Ali pairing seems to be. The melody and son structure is clear BT all the way, fully utilizing Nadia Ali's beautiful vocals; but that drop. Ohh that drop. That has Arty party written all over it. Top notch production work all around, I can't wait to hear what's on the remix package.

Tiesto & Steve Aoki ft. Polina - Tornado (Kill The Noise Remix)
Artist: Tiesto & Steve Aoki ft. Polina
Track: Tornado (Kill The Noise Remix)
Label: Dim Mak
Kill The Noise doing an amazing job and taking the song a completely different way. It's relaxing but still a jam face melter. Use this as motivation. Now go get yourself a drink.

Stoneface & Terminal ft. Cathy Burton - Go The Distance (Club Mix)
Artist: Stoneface & Terminal ft. Cathy Burton
Track: Go The Distance (Club Mix)
Label: Adrian & Raz
In honor of Sean Tyas playing at Sullivan Room and returning to his hometown of NYC I present a track that I feel was the standout on his last Tytanium Sessions Radio show. Oh you don't know what that is? It's right HERE - probably the best selection of harder edged trance and tech. It's a guaranteed weekly listen for me. As for Stoneface & Terminal, the guys are on fire. The drop at 3:30 is a bit harder than you would expect from them but they certainly delivery with the harmony and that repetitive sample you know and love from trance. This is a bit of a switch up but I'm pretty damn excited to see Sean Tyas tonight and you should be pretty damn excited it's Friday. Welcome to the weekend.

Dyro ft. Amba Shepherd - Sky High
Artist: Dyro ft. Amba Shepherd
Track: Sky High
Label: Strictly Rhythm
Some good old fashioned electro house progressive phenomenalness. I think the real star of the show is the second half of the song, from the break at 3:30 on, the drop teases you a bit then kicks in a vocal repeat until finally destroying any sense of logic or well being with the final break. It's absolutely massive. I almost didn't catch it the first few times around, I was focusing too much on the first half of the song and thought that the track was kinda ehh and repetitive. I'm telling you, if you have any preconceived notions of Dyro since he dropped "Raid" wipe them away. This is just as big of a track but definitely has less of a festival vibe and more of a 4 AM craziness feel.

Dada Life - Feed The Dada + Kaskade - Llove (Dada Life Remix)
Artist: Dada Life
Track: Feed The Dada
Label: So Much Dada
I couldn't resist posting this one any longer, it's being banged out in the middle of literally every set I've heard over the past few months. I remember when Dada Life put out the teaser video they guaranteed that this track would have the biggest drop EVER.While I don't think it's the biggest drop of all time, the break is crunchy as hell. This really was a big speaker, festival song; the chords were huge and you could hear them a mile away. The vocals are catchy and Dada Life continue on their streak of big sound, feel good, dance party music.
They continue with their newest remix of Kaskade's "Llove" on the same step, big crunchy, fun house music. This track absolutely blasted away Coachella, have a listen and see why.

Sultan & Ned Shepard vs. Thomas Sagstad ft. Dirty Vegas - Somebody To Love (Third Party Remix)
Artist: Sultan & Ned Shepard vs. Thomas Sagstad ft. Dirty Vegas
Track: Somebody To Love (Third Party Remix)
Label: Harem
It seems like more and more there are mega-collaborations between one or two or in this case four artists and producers. "Somebody To Love" is another to to add onto the pile, pairing powerhouses Sultan & Ned Shepard with Thomas Sagstad and featuring the vocals of Dirty Vegas. Thennnnn you add Third Party to the mix on remix duties, and there's a whole buncha cooks in this kitchen. I think the track is solid, I like the remix way better than the original, and hey it worked for Swedish House Mafia right? Bonus: original below.

Dan Ghenacia & Shonky - Close To The Edge
Artist: Dan Ghenacia & Shonky
Track: Close To The Edge
Label: Appolonia
While I realize this is not a new song, I've also come to realize I've never posted it before, so shame on me. You can listen to all the face melting electro house or 140 BPM trance stormers you want, but sometimes the stresses of live surround you and you need a place to escape to and relax your mind, and for a couple of months this track has been my retreat. Dan Ghenacia and Shonky create a melodic house masterpiece, that while not extremely complex, is extremely well done. Classically evolved French house sound here. Hypnotic bass lines, soaring strings and repetitive vocals; you could listen to this song on repeat ten times and not even know it. Enjoy your Monday, relax you mind and tap those toes.

Orbital - Halcyon And On And On (Live)
Artist: Orbital
Track: Halcyon And On And On (Live)
Label: FFRR
Throwback Saturday. This one is a classic. We all know the original and you damn well better know this live mash up version. Might have started the whole mash up thing, who knows, but almost 20 years later it's still a jam.

Betsie Larkin & Lange - Obvious (Lange Club Mix) + George Acosta Remix
Artist: Betsie Larkin & Lange
Track: Obvious (Lange Club Mix)
Label: Black Hole
Lange has always put out phenomenal vocal and melodic trance tracks, but it wasn't until I saw him spin right after Leon Bolier that I really started to appreciate him as a DJ and how driving his tracks can be. The Lange club mix of this track blows the radio mix out of the water, and if you are into vocal trance you will appreciate it, its actually pretty damn catchy. The vocals are on point, the BPM is a bit higher and the melodies are familiar but exciting.
On the second mix my man George Acosta puts his own touch on the track. George Acosta's Lost World mix album is one of my top 5 all time trance mix albums, but it;s good to see he's holding down Miami and changing with the times. The progressive house feel he puts out there is a completely different spin on the track, and still a bona fide dance floor killer.
Two flavors, two artists, one Friday night. Welcome to the weekend.

Afrojack ft. Shermanology - Can't Stop Me (Kryder & Tom Staar Vocal Mix) + Spencer & Hill - 1234
Artist: Afrojack ft. Shermanology
Track: Can't Stop Me (Kryder & Tom Staar Vocal Mix)
Label: 3beat Records
Just a hell of a remix job by Kryder and Tom Staar teaming up to bring the heat on what has been destroying dancefloors for a few months now. The original is obviously phenomenal in it's own way, but this take makes a left turn in Funkville and brings that massive, massive energy you'd expect from the pair. The warbling bass line gets stuck in your head for days and you will find yourself singing an actual bass line in the shower, if that's even possible.
On the same playing field you have the infectious festival anthem "1234" by heavy weights Spencer and Hill, who have been delivering huge track for years now. It all started with the Porter and Novelli remix of their track with Lil Jon "Less Go!" which absolutely destroyed speakers all over the world and onto my personal favorite on which they collaborated with Nadia Ali and remixed by Cazzette, "Believe It". Two anthem tracks to remind you that you survived the summer of 2012.

Major Lazer ft. Amber Coffman - Get Free (Andy C Remix)
Artist: Major Lazer ft. Amber Coffman
Track: Get Free (Andy C Remix)
Label: Downtown Music
This is it for me, this is the song that I will always remember and I think sums up my summer in my head. The very last night of Labor Day Weekend, blasting this in a full on, after bar, dance party; dancing on coffee tables wearing a robot head and throwing napkins in the air. The original of the song is far, far different than the twist Andy C puts on it, and it's down right masterful. The beat is infectious and the usage of the vocal sample is addicting, I find it going through my head over and over. We all have those songs you associate with a great time, and this is one of them for me. Not only because it's one of my top 5 DnB/Dub/Breaks/Bass/Whatever songs, but because it's god damn good to listen to.

EC Twins ft. CeCe Peniston - You've Never Seen
Artist: EC Twins ft. CeCe Peniston
Track: You've Never Seen
Label: Spinnin
The ole Eye Candy Twins, bringing that bangin yet accessible sound we all know and love. Now this isn't my usual cup of tea, it's a bit too "Jersey Shore" for my taste, but you have to give credit where credit is due. That drop with the wah wah wah wah wah wah sample is a straight up irresistible fist pumping moment. Adding the vocals and a modern classic like Cece Peniston adds a bit more to the mainstream club vibe of the song and the hopes of radio friendly audiences. I'm not saying it's not a banger, I'm just not admitting to liking it.......much.....

Daleri - Touche! (Dank Remix) + Original
Artist: Daleri
Track: Touche! (Dank Remix)
Label: Trice
Unfortunately the GoDaddy servers went down yesterday, taking millions of pages with them, so my apologies for the late post.
Here's a little ditty from a trio of Swedes that don't prefer to associate themselves with organized crime, and a remix from an old school, NYC rave scene DJ making good on crunchy bass lines and fat riffs. DJ Dank has been around forever and if you're familiar with the NYC rave scene of the late 90's and early 2000's you've either heard his name before or seen him spin at a party or two. He also happens to be a friend of a friend, so it's good to see an NYC boy from the old scene break into on such a prestigious label like Armada's imprint Trice. Besides, this track has some serious weight behind it
Dank will be DJing at Webster Hall with Joachim Garraud & Lazy Rich Friday Sept. 28th, if you're in the NYC area get you ass there.

Benji ft. Sherry St. Germain - Steel Eyes
Artist: Benji ft. Sherry St. Germain
Track: Steel Eyes
Label: Musical Freedom
Just a great, great song, all the elements of something you want to jam to. Musical Freedom really has cemented itself of only releasing top quality tracks that distinguish themselves from the rest of the cookie cutter, formulaic progressive house slammers that go for the jugular every time. Is that a real guitar I'm hearing? Soulful lyrics? Haunting voice from an unknown singer? Wall of sound drop that makes you jump in the air without puncturing your eardrums? You got it. Solid track

Henrix - Lets Rave + Henrix - Sound of Da Police
Artist: Henrix
Track: Let's Rave
Label: Mixmash
And here it is ladies and gentleman. The track I've been officially obsessed with since hearing it drop at Electric Zoo, this effing track is absolutely nutso. In the big room this thing STOMPS. I've been getting sick of all the same tracks, and this thing has some power behind it. I can't really describe it better than you can so just enjoy it, this is the one that's going to rage you into Friday night, just look at the video below. Enjoy a bonus sampling below. Welcome to the weekend my friends.

Tommy Trash & Sebastian Ingrosso - Reload + Tommy Trash - Truffle Pig + Aston Shuffle - Won't Get Lost (Tommy Trash Remix) + Steve Aoki ft. Wynter Gordon - Ladi Dadi (Tommy Trash Remix)
Artist: Tommy Trash & Sebastian Ingrosso
Track: Reload
Label: Refune
After watching the video I took of Tommy Trash's set at Electric Zoo over and over then listening to the live set over and over; I can safely say the man is a legendary performer and currently my favorite live DJ. First of all, we know from past posts HERE and HERE the dude makes amazing tracks. Couple that with the sheer energy and enthusiasm he portrays while performing, like he's channeling his own music, and you can understand what it is to see Tommy Trash live. I will admit I'm on a pretty big kick right now, but with tracks like "Reload" (above) being released at the end of this month, "Truffle Pig" (below) coming out sometime soon, the Aston Shuffle remix and his absolutely monumental remix of Steve Aoki still being rocked in every DJ's set (far below); you should have a special place in your heart for this headbanging DJ yourself. Do yourself a favor, walk, fly drive, do whatever you can to get to a Tommy Trash show sometime soon. Very soon.

East & Young - Dice + DJ Fresh ft. Dizzee Rascal - The Power (East & Young Remix)
Artist: East & Young
Track: Dice
Label: Fly Eye
Seems that East & Young have made the big time, landing their first release on Calvin Harris' imprint Fly Eye. I first heard this track as a preview to their Coda EP and I was blown away, even before I heard the crunchy as a crushed bag of Doritos drop. I'm talking that this thing storms on the big speakers, if you hear this in the big room count yourself lucky and about-to-be-partially-deaf at the same time. The young Dutch duo is about to make a big name for themselves especially with tracks like this. We got our first taste of whats to come on their remix of DJ Fresh's "The Power" (below), so it's not surprise that someone with a good ear took notice and wanted to claim them for their own label. Granted the track would be way better without Rascal's lyrics but the drop (especially at 3:50) is an all hands in the air confetti dropper.

Deniz Koyu ft. Wynter Gordon - Follow You
Artist: Deniz Koyu ft. Wynter Gordon
Track: Follow You
Label: Big Beat
I think there's a safe bet when you see Deniz Koyu and Wynter Gordon slap their names on a track you know it's going to hold up to the big chord sound they're usually accompanied by. Deniz previously teamed up with Johan Wedel for a remix of James Blunt's "Dangerous" as well as the MASSIVE partnership with FLG on "Turn It". We obviously all remember Wynter Gordon as the vocalist from "Dirty Talk" and a couple other big room stormers. So it really was no surprise when this feel good anthem came on the main stage this past weekend with all hands in the air and smiles on faces. If there was a choice for end of the summer anthem, this would be it.
